Foden's and Scott win the 'British Bandsman CD of the Year award

For the 3rd consecutive year Foden's Band have won the 'British Bandsman CD of the Year.' The bands cd 'A World Within' featuring the music of the bands composer in residence Andy Scott found favour with the panel of Judges comprising Tim Mutum, Frank Renton and Paul Hindmarsh who after listening to all the major cd releases of 2010 chose 'A World Within' as the worthy winner. Eikanger Band's 'Romeo and Juliet' was placed 2nd and Black Dyke's 'Red Priest' was voted 3rd.
 
Speaking about the award Mark Wilkinson said 'The band are honoured to have won the 2010 cd award for 'A World Within.' We are very fortunate to have a 'Composer in Residence' of the quality of Andy Scott who has brought a new dimension to brass band writing. The band have a close working relationship with Andy which has produced a number of exciting commissions with further new works planned. Foden's are very keen to promote 'New' music which has been proven by the band winning this prestigious award for the 3rd year running all of which have featured new and exciting repertoire. Foden's have a number of exciting recording projects planned for 2011 which will be announced in due course.'

Commenting on the cd award, Composer In Residence Andy Scott said  "I am so proud that Foden's Band & I have received this prestigious award! As the bands Composer in Residence it is a real honour to be able to collaborate with such an outstanding collective of musicians  and personalities. The 'A World Within' CD took a huge amount of hours and effort from all concerned; special thanks to Foden's Band,  Mike Fowles, Bram Tovey, Peter Fletcher, Jim Fieldhouse, Adam Goldsmith, Brian Hilson, Nicki Seager and World of Brass!"
