Fodens raise the roof

Foden’s Band on the 3rd June gave a concert in recognition of the partnership it shares with Sandbach Town Council. This year’s concert venue was decided by the council with the aim of raising funds for the roof of nearby church, St.Mary’s.

Sandbach Town Council’s Town Clerk, Ann Banks added:

“The world renowned Foden’s Brass Band wowed its capacity audience during an afternoon performance at St Mary’s Church on Sunday 3 July. The joint event had been coordinated by Sandbach Town Council, St Mary’s Church (Sandbach) and Foden’s Band and raised £1,000 towards much needed restorative works to the church.

The programme comprised of traditional Foden’s pieces and was supported by more popular music from the stage and screen. The event concluded with a patriotic prom type finale and a standing ovation. Cream teas served during the interval by the Ladies of St Mary’s were enjoyed by all.

Fiona Bruce MP gave thanks to the Band in her closing speech and described the music as a blend of stirring, bold, haunting and soul-lifting; “a veritable cornucopia of sound”.

The Town Mayor Dennis Robinson thoroughly enjoyed the event and hopes it continues for many years to come.”

Next year’s event is already being discussed and both the band and council hope to make it another memorable event
For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
