Coleshill Town Band – Foden’s Workshop

Players of Coleshill Town Band recently participated in a workshop with some of the star players of Foden’s band.
The band held a day of sectional workshops at Repton School in Derbyshire with Mark Wilkinson (cornet), Lesley Howie (horn), Natsumi McDonald (Euph/Baritone), Shaun Farrington (trombone), Stewart Baglin (bass) & Mark Landon (percussion).
The workshops formed part of the development plan of the band as well as giving them chance to rehearse music for the forthcoming Whit Friday March contest and Wychavon Festival of Brass later in the year.
Following on from the sectional workshops the band then came together and was joined by the tutors under the baton of Mark Wilkinson to put all their learning into place.
The day was an inspiration to all with many players commenting on the way that the tutors put all their players at ease, regardless of their ability or age (players ages range from 12 to 80!)
Many members of the band left the workshops in very buoyant mood, determined to put all the hints and tips given to them by the top-class players into practice.
For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
