Training Day with Lions Youth

Posted by Mark Wilkinson on 16 January 2012

Lions Youth Brass recently continued their strong partnership with our friends from Fodens Band. Yesterday (Sunday 15th) saw a team of Fodens tutors, Mark Wilkinson, Richard Poole, Lesley Howie, Anthony Mann, Shaun Farrington and Mark Bousie spend the afternoon with Lions' Junior Brass (who's Musical Director is Fodens Cornet player Ian Raisbeck).
The Junior Band received sectional workshops from the tutors before being put through their paces by Mark Bousie on pieces for their forthcoming visit to the National Youth Championships. The afternoon was completed with a fantastic performance for parents and friends of the band, displaying the incredible progress made during the afternoon.Meanwhile, Lions Youth Brass have recently benefited from several visits by Michael Fowles (Musical Director, Fodens and Associate Conductor, Lions Youth Brass). Mike has been assisting the Youth Band with their preparation for the Butlins Mineworkers Championships which take place next weekend.
Lions are very proud of their partnership with Fodens; and are looking forward to more collaboration in the future including a joint concert in May.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
