Workshop and Presentation

Lions Youth Brass and their Musical Director Nigel Birch have just undertaken their latest workshop with The Fodens Band ahead of their appearance at The National Youth Championships in April.

Mark Wilkinson, Richard and Lesley Poole, Mark Bousie, Shaun Farrington, Stewart Baglin and Anthony Mann carried out the morning’s sectionals on the test-piece Tintagel by Dennis Wright.

Following a buffet lunch provided by parents of the band members Mark Bousie then directed a very productive rehearsal.

During the interval Nigel Birch took time out to make a presentation to The Fodens Band on behalf of Lions Youth Brass of the two winning scores from their historic double success, which have both been signed and inscribed by Martin Ellerby and Howard Snell. These will now be hung in the Fodens band room.

Speaking on behalf of the band Nigel Birch commented; “Lions are committed to continually giving the best possible tuition and opportunities to our players and our continued collaboration with The Fodens Band enables us to achieve that goal. We are also pleased we could mark Fodens fantastic achievments of 2012 with the presentation of the winning scores.

Lions Youth Brass would also like to thank the Love Music Trust for supporting this project.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
