david gillsonFoden's are pleased to announce the signing of David Gillson as Flugel Horn Soloist.

David is a previous member of Grimethorpe Band where he played Solo cornet and joins from the Fairey Band, where he held the same position, as well as covering on Principal cornet. David has also been a finalist on the BBC Radio 'Young Brass Award' for the past 2 years.

Speaking about the signing Mark Wilkinson commented 'We are extremely pleased to announce the signing of David Gillson on Flugel. I have been a huge admirer of David's playing over the years through the NYBB and RNCM where he has just finished his studies under the guidance of Prof Roger Webster. I have always been very impressed by David's work rate as well as his great sound and lyrical playing which has become even more evident since he has been playing Flugel.'

Speaking about his appointment David commented 'This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join a world class band in a soloist position, taking over from such an excellent player like Helen is a huge challenge but I am looking forward to this opportunity and to work with the band.
Also, having been on placement with the Foden's Youth Band through their partnership with the RNCM, I am excited to help the band encourage young people to develop their musical talents. Finally I must thank the Fairey Band for the last couple of years, particularly the expert guidance and support I received from Prof Garry Cutt, Paul Hughes and Brian Taylor.'

David will commence his role with Foden's on the 7th July
