2015 poster2On 2nd May Foden's Band and their critically acclaimed Foden's Youth Band will premiere a brand new composition by Andrew Stevenson. The piece titled 'Tales of Myths and Legends' takes inspiration from myths and legends of Cheshire. Each of its four movements tells a different tale of Cheshire's rich history, which boasts stories of dragons, wizards, mermaids and much more. The composition, for two brass bands, was inspired following a similar concert last year which featured a performance of Howard Snell's 'Images of the Millennium' given by Foden's and Foden's Youth Bands.

The forthcoming event on 2nd May is being hosted by Keele University Brass Band, driven by their student president Clare Jakeman (a Tuba player with Foden's Youth Band). The concert will be held in the Chapel at Keele University and as well as the world premiere, will also feature entertaining sets from both of the bands directed by Michael Fowles.

Speaking about the event, Youth Band co-ordinator Ian Raisbeck said 'as part of our vision at Foden's, we have championed new young composers, particularly with our Youth Band programmes. We have worked with Andrew Stevenson ever since our very first performance in 2012, and latest piece is a very exciting project which we very much look forward to premiering. It is also with great delight that we are able to work with new organisations such as Keele University Brass Band with whom we are looking forward to forging a close relationship with over the coming months and years'

Tickets are priced at £10 (adults) and £8 (concessions) and can be reserved by contacting Ian Raisbeck (
