Foden's have announced that David Thornton has resigned his position as Solo Euphonium from the end of December and accepted an offer to return to Brighouse and Rastrick as their new Musical Director.

Speaking about his departure from Foden's David commented 'My thanks go to Foden's. It certainly wasn't my intention to make my stint as their solo euphonium so short. 16 months is no time at all, but opportunities must be taken when they arise. Foden's have a quite incredible infrastructure: It's a working model for any band to follow and I have admired everything they achieve, especially through new music commissions and their education initiatives.

Speaking on behalf of Foden's Mark Wilkinson commented ' We fully understand David's reason for leaving the band and would like to thank him for his time at Foden's where he has been a valuable asset. David is a very talented performer and conductor and we would like to wish him every success at Brighouse.'

David's replacement will be announced shortly.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
