uttoxoter 16 7 16On Saturday 16th July Foden's will appear in concert to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Uttoxeter Band.

The Uttoxeter Band was formed in memory of a local peripatetic teacher (ALAN BOOTH) and its first rehearsal took place on 27th Feb 1996 with around 20 or so participants.  Today’s band has Alan’s grandson Karl Stanley playing on the solo cornet bench.

The very first hymn tune performed by the band was Deep Harmony which Wesley Kendrick has been commissioned to create a new arrangement to celebrate this milestone in the band’s history. Foden's will premiere this at the Anniversary concert. The band has been an integral part of life in and around Uttoxeter since it’s formation playing and entertaining at various fetes, parades and proms concerts.

In 2009 a new junior section was started which now comprises 18 members attending on a weekly basis to have fun and make music under the leadership of Roy Marrison.  The “DevBand” is open to any one regardless of age or ability/experience.

Prior to the evening concert on the 16th July, the band is holding two workshops between 3.30-4.30pm.  An adult masterclass led by Mark Wilkinson who will perform, discuss and demonstrate various aspects of brass playing & and a junior workshop led by Mark Bousie.  Both of these are free of charge and open to all ages & abilities.

The events will be held at the JCB visitor Centre, Hollington Road, Uttoxeter, Staffs, ST14 5LS
