winchester'A word of enormous thanks for the concert by Foden’s Band at Winchester Cathedral on 11th June. I was really sorry not to have had the opportunity to say a word of thanks personally at the end, but the Fireworks followed on immediately. I could see you making for the coach as the Fireworks concluded. It was a truly magnificent concert and demonstrated the quality of the Band. I have had many letters and comments from people quite stunned by the excellence of the Band, who did not know beforehand, as I was aware, that you are world class. You certainly demonstrated that you deserve your reputation. The two halves of the concert balanced well, the music was well chosen and the Cathedral has the volume of space to do justice to the sound. As well as being the Queen’s 90th birthday, it was my final weekend as Dean. I could not have wished for a finer send off.'
With warm appreciation and thanks,
James.
