Today's Modern Coaches

The Fodens Motor Works Band were in the fortunate position of always using their own custom built coaches which were manufactured in Sandbach by the band's first sponsor, Fodens Limited. The present day band, like most other bands, have to hire transport to take them to and from venues as pictured above.

Foden Motor Works Band Bus - 1951

1951

This vehicle had a Foden FD6 two-stroke diesel engine and a Foden five-speed gearbox. It was in service until the late nineteen seventies.

Foden Motor Works Band Bus, 'Bandmaster' - 1933

1933... "Bandmaster"

Used as the band bus until 1951 it was powered by a Gardner 5LW engine with a Foden five-speed gearbox.

Foden Motor Works Band Bus, 'Puffing Billy' - 1913

1913... "Puffing Billy"

This was a Foden three ton steam wagon fitted with a five ton boiler and engine. "Puffing Billy" was in service until the late nineteen twenties when it was sent to the breakers yard.
