Foden's Richardson BandThe Foden's Richardson Band has been in existance since the start of the last century. In the year 2000 we have been celebrating "One Hundred Years of Music Making". We have tried to illustrate much of that one hundred years in our web site.

new book
For an even more detailed view there is a beautifully crafted book by Allan Littlemore, specially written to celebrate the first 100 years of the Fodens Band. Allan, who for many years was Fodens Band Manager, has written around 95,000 words and included over 50 photographs. The book, printed by Peak Press and now in its second edition, was launched at the National Brass Band Championships at the Royal Albert Hall, London in October 1999.

Edwin Firth
Edwin Firth was the name of the brilliant young principal cornet of the Fodens Motor Works Band in the years before the First World War. Tragically it was in the Great War that he was taken from us. He left a legacy to the band in the form of the famous cornet solo "Cleopatra" which was recorded in 1914. This unique archive performance can be heard on our Centenary CD.
