Ken's Adventure

The band is saying farewell to 2nd Euphonium player Ken Cant who is flying out to New Zealand on 5th January 2000 with an 9 month open return ticket.  Ken goes via Singapore and will spend time in Fiji before travelling around New Zealand and Australia.  His main activity will be scuba diving (as he has recently received his Dive Master qualification) and will teach to earn extra cash. He will also play in the Australian Nationals in April with a band down-under.

Ken's replacement in the euphonium section is Neil Jackson, formerly 1st Baritone with Black Dyke, who we would like to welcome to the band.

Margaret Mortimer

It is with regret that we report the passing of Mrs Margaret Mortimer, an Honorary Vice President of the Fodens Courtois Band and a figurehead in the brass band movement.

Mrs Mortimer, pictured with her son Martin and her late husband Harry Mortimer, died in hospital on Friday 10th December after undergoing heart surgery earlier in the day.

Mrs Mortimer had continued to be deeply involved in the running of the British Open Championships and the Grand Shield since her husbands death in 1992.

She leaves a son, Martin and nine Grandchildren.
