On Sunday 9th March Foden's competed at the North West Area Competition held at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. Each band had to perform the 'Set' test piece 'St Magnus' by composer Kenneth Downie. St Magnus has been described by many as one of the hardest test pieces written for Brass Bands due to its extremely demanding technical and melodic requirements.

After a solid performance that found favour from many in the audience as well as the various banding magazine critics Foden's were awarded the runner up position and therefore qualify for the National Finals to be held at the Royal Albert Hall, London on the 11th October.

Congratulations to the Fairey Band on their victory
