This week Foden's had the privilege of being conducted by Bramwell Tovey who made a welcome return to the band as well as the pleasure of accompanying Mark O'Keefe our guest Trumpet soloist.

On Saturday 24th January the band performed a concert as part of the prestigious RNCM Festival of Brass consisting of

Deo Gloria - Tovey
Connotations - Gregson
Songs of the Paradise Saloon, Concerto for trumpet (UK première of brass band version) soloist Mark O'Keefe Tovey
Atrium Phase - Baker (Winner of the Foden's composer competition)

Song of Courage - Ball
Variations on a Theme of Michael Tippett - Tovey/Gregson/Ball/Howarth/Wilby
Forgotten Place - Scott
The Night to Sing - Tovey

On Sunday 25th January the band spent 6 hours in the recording studio at the RNCM with our friends from World of Sound recording 'Song of the Paradise Saloon' and 'The Night to Sing.' The band will compete the CD in a few months for a release later this year.

Bram's week with the band ended with a special 'Evening with Bramwell Tovey' hosted by the Sandbach Concert Series during which Bram was interviewed by John Barber, recounting stories from his illustrious career and speaking about his love for Foden's and the enjoyment he gets from conducting the band.

All in all a very rewarding and enjoyable weekend

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
