The judging panel of Philip Sparke, Dr Peter Meechan and Michael Fowles have now consulted on all the compositions submitted in the 23 and under category of our 2014 Composers Competition, run in partnership with RNCM. The below compositions will now go through to the live masterclass round to be held at the RNCM on the 15th June commencing at 7.15pm.

Foden's will perform all the compositions with the judges giving feedback on each. The winner will be announced at the end of the class.

Heaven’s Shower – Daniel Hall
Planets Rising – Nic Mills
Spring Song - Matthew Eden
Sambonia – Matthew Brett
The Journey of St Cuthbert – Aaron Wolfe
Aurola Borealis - Dave Hanson

Speaking about the forthcoming concert Mark Wilkinson commented 'The band have enjoyed working on the compositions to be performed at the RNCM. The concert / workshop is open to all and we are hoping that up and coming as well as established composers will attend the workshop to hear from our expert judges about how to write and score for Brass Bands. After the 6 works have been performed Foden's will give a short concert whilst the judges deliberate before announcing the winner of this particular category.'

Tickets for the event are priced at £5 for adults and £4.50 for senior citizens / students / under 18's  and can be purchased via the RNCM on 0161 907 5555

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
