airLocal Industrial Gases Company, Air Products, has donated £500 as part of its community support strategy to Foden’s Band 'Youth Education Programme'.

Speaking on behalf of Foden's, Mark Wilkinson commented: “Foden’s are heavily involved in Youth Education and for the past 15 years have visited several Youth Organisations per year, holding workshops, lessons and masterclasses to hopefully inspire the young musicians.”

In 2012 Foden’s formed their own Youth Band in order to provide opportunities for young brass and percussion players to experience performances alongside world class musicians, receive tuition from some of the UK's leading specialists and direction from talented professional conductors.
The project was seen as a natural extension of the youth development work already carried out by Foden's players, and has enabled the band to build partnerships with Love Music Trust (lead partner in the Cheshire East Music Hub), Royal Northern College of Music, Besson and numerous organisations who have been keen to support this exciting new band. When opened to applications; 60 places were quickly filled by young players from all around Cheshire and further, including Lancashire, South Yorkshire, North Wales and the Midlands.

In 2015 Foden’s formed a Junior Band run in partnership with the ‘Accent’ Music Education Hub and existing Foden’s Youth Band partners, Besson and the Royal Northern College of Music. The Foden's Junior Band provides opportunities for young brass and percussion players from Halton, Warrington, and further afield, to perform together acting as a feeder to the Youth Band.

Mark added: “Foden’s are very passionate about this role and are extremely grateful to Air Products for their generous donation which will allow us to increase our Youth development work in the community.”

Lynn Willacy, Community & STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Ambassador for Air Products, said: “It is really important to Air Products that we support the communities where we operate. Foden’s Band is well regarded locally and also further afield, they do such great work with young people, and we are delighted to be able to help by giving this donation.”
