glyn williamsprizebritopen2012Glyn and Helen Williams would like to announce that their combined 35 year connection with Foden's Band will come to an end this Summer as they have made the huge decision to re-locate to South Wales and to take up the Solo Euphonium and Flugel positions with the Cory Band. Helen is also excited to have been offered the opportunity to work with the Cory Academy, helping to encourage and develop community grass roots banding in the Rhondda Cynon Taf area and throughout South Wales. Glyn has much to offer as a conductor, having spent many years developing the Marsden Band into a top class contesting band, and will be actively seeking new opportunities in the area.

As much of a heart wrenching decision this has been, the couple are looking forward to new challenges and beginning a new chapter in their lives which neatly ties in with them both celebrating significant birthdays in 2015.

They would like to publicly thank Foden's Band for the countless experiences, opportunities and fond memories that have been made over the last 20 years for Glyn and 15 years for Helen. The chances to work with, and be conducted by the likes of Howard Snell, Bramwell Tovey to name just a few, will be cherished forever. Life long friendships will be maintained and although Glyn & Helen are venturing into pastures new, Foden's Band will always remain close to their hearts, and they have wished us all the very best for the future.

Helen and Glyn's final concert with Foden's will appropriately be at Sandbach "Proms in the Park" on 4th July. The following day will also mark Glyn's final full time engagement as MD of the Marsden Band, and Helen's as MD with Huddersfield & Ripponden Brass, at the Brighouse March & Hymn Tune Contest on the 5th July

Speaking about Glyn and Helen's departure Mark Wilkinson commented 'All at Foden's would like to thank Glyn and Helen for their long service, commitment and dedication. During their service both have been model bands people as well as a great asset both playing and socially. We send our best wishes for their re location and new banding future.'

Band Chairman John Barber echoed Marks comments 'It has been my absolute pleasure to share the rehearsal room, concert stage and contest platform with Glyn and Helen. More over the friendships enjoyed both in and outside of the bandroom are significant and will continue not only with myself but all within Foden's band in the coming years. It is often hard to find model bands people who are musicians of such stature and who will commit so much for such a period of time. We at Foden's have been blessed to enjoy two of the very best.I wish them all the very best for their future.'

News on replacements is due to be announced shortly, watch this space!

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
