North West Area Champions

On Sunday 28th February Foden's competed at the North West Area Competition held at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool. The 'Area' contest is a qualification contest for the Nationals Finals which are held at the Royal Albert Hall, London in October.

On the 5th September Foden's will once again compete at the 'British Open Championship' held at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham. The 'Open' is one of the oldest and most sought after trophies in world banding and sees the top 20 brass band in the UK competing each year.

Foden's Solo Contest 2015

Plans are well under way for the forthcoming Foden's Solo Contest (which is the largest of its kind in the UK) to be held in Sandbach on the 31st October 2015. As well as various prizes and bursaries, Glyn Williams (pictured left) will now provide a trophy for the 'most outstanding euphonium player of the day'.

From the first Whit Friday Marches in 1884, the event has grown in popularity. This year over 100 brass bands participated in twenty two different contests at venues scattered around the areas of Tameside and Saddleworth.
