Click on photograph for a larger image.Sheona was born in Scotland and began to play the tenor horn at the age of ten. She became Junior National Solo Champion of Scotland and was appointed Principal Horn of the National Youth Brass band of Scotland.
Between 1992 and 1996 she studied at the University of Salford, graduating with a BA Hons. with a Distinction in Performance. During her studies at the University of Salford Sheona became the first tenor horn player, first Scot and first female to win the British Open Solo Championships.

In 1996 she won the coveted title of BBC Radio 2 Young Musician of the Year and subsequently made several broadcasts with the BBC Concert Orchestra. She is regularly invited as a guest soloist/tutor as far a field as Australia, New Zealand and USA, and in 1997 performed in Westminster Abbey for the Commonwealth Day Observance Concert in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.

In 1998 Sheona was selected as a finalist in the Cosmopolitan Women of Achievement Awards and has received a Platinum Disc for her solo role in the world-acclaimed CD Perfect Day. She recorded her highly acclaimed solo CD 'The Voice of the Tenor Horn' in 2000.

For 12 years Sheona held the position of Principal Horn with the YBS Band, and during that time she was part of the bands huge success worldwide, including winning the All England Masters 3 times, the British Open 4 times and the European Championships 8 times. The YBS Band have made numerous award winning CD's including the 'Essays for Brass' series.

She is currently Tenor Horn tutor at the University of Salford and a Teacher of Music at The Kingsway School, Cheadle.
