On the 28th January Fodens appeared in the 'Festival of Brass' held at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester conducted by Mike Fowles, Howard Snell and featuring guest soloist Rex Richardson.

The concert featured a world premier performance of composer in Residence Andy Scott's new work "Spirit of Mingus".
The piece was well recieved by audience and critics alike and upon hearing the premier performance, guest conductor Howard Snell commented
"A fine, fine piece! I was thoroughly impressed with the piece on a "pro-musician-solving-problems-and-doing-new-things" basis, but essentially I just enjoyed it, and will spend another 15 minutes of my valuable and scarce time listening to it again when the next chance crops up."
