Fodens band recording of 'Maestro' has been awarded the 'Brass Band World' title of 'CD of the Year'

A panel of Judges shortlisted all the Brass Band cd releases in 2009 down to a final of 7 where the judges brief was to 'rank each cd in order of merit, irrespective of the type of disc'

The panel of Paul Hindmarsh, Dr Howard Evans, Philip Harper and Simone Rebello unanimously placed 'Maestro' in first place, 'Rococo Variations' also by Fodens in second place and 'Within Blue Empires' by Black Dyke in third place.

Dr Howard Evans said 'Maestro represents a supreme and refreshing listening experience that totally draws the listener in with diverse style and genres.'

Commenting on 'Rococo Variations' Paul Hindmarsh said 'Fodens produce arguably the finest Variations on a Ninth and In Memoriam RK yet committed to disc'
