Christmas Concert and Presentations

Posted by Mark Wilkinson on 18 December 2009

On the 13th December Fodens Band gave their annual Christmas Concert at Sandbach Boys School to the followers of the band and many invited guests.

This concert served to recognise the generous sponsorship from the Sandbach Town Council in addition to help from Cheshire East, Flowcrete, Wrights Printers and the small army of helpers who enable the band to succeed at the very highest level in brass banding. Also recognised for their help throughout  the year were two local businessmen, Mr Stephen Sebire and Mr. Mark Greaves.

Two important presentations were given throughout the course of the evening. The first being the naming of the Fodens Youth Patron's website which was won by Abigail Foskett with her entry "Salute to Youth" being judged as the worthy winner. The prize was presented by the Chairman of the council, Elsie Alcock. The promotion of youth is a shared aim of the council and Fodens and many events are planned in 2010 to help the areas young players.

Secondly a moving speech was given by the evenings compare, Joe Wilson, which coincided with the dispersal of the remaining articles and money from the Foden's Trust. At the end of the speech Joe presented a cheque to John Barber, the band's chairman, for £1500 which was greatly received.
