Fodens players on TV

Posted by Mark Wilkinson on 23 March 2010

Viewers tuning into bbc 2's real life documentary 'A Band for Britain' on Monday 22nd March would have seen members of Fodens Band assisting the Dinnington Band in sectional and full rehearsals prior to a concert with the Grimethorpe Band.

Speaking about the TV appearance Mark Wilkinson said 'I was approached by the makers of the documentary last year to arrange for Les Neish, Lesley Howie, Mark Landon, Glyn Williams and myself to be filmed on the programme which shows TV personality Sue Perkins helping Dinnington Band re build from a lack of players upto competing in contests and concerts. It was a great thrill for the Fodens players to be involved in this project as well as working with Sue and the Dinnington Band who were extremely friendly and hard working.'

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
