New Solo Horn at Fodens

Posted by Mark Wilkinson on 21 August 2008

Fodens are delighted to announce the arrival of Lesley Howie to the position of solo horn ahead of the bands assault at the British Open. Lesley's appointment follows the departure of Sheona White, the bands former solo horn player, due to work commitments. Lesley’s first engagement will be the bands annual outing to the Bridgewater Hall early this September.

Lesley comes from a rich banding background previously playing with Black Dyke, Leyland and Scottish Co-op. As well as being a 'Besson' artist she is also in demand as a soloist and teacher being the horn tutor with the 'National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain' and 'National Youth Brass Band of Scotland' as well as teaching at the 'RNCM'. Lesley commented on her appointment 'I am really pleased to have joined Fodens on Solo Horn, they are a fantastic band and I am looking forward to being part of such a great team.'

Mark Wilkinson said 'Fodens are extremely pleased to have signed someone of Lesley's pedigree who will bring a wealth of experience to the band.'

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
