We are extremely honoured to have been awarded the title of '4Barsrest 2020 Band of the Year'

2020 started positively with a victory at the North West Area Contest for a fifth successive year but things then entered a downwards spiral with our appearance at the European Championships being cancelled and then lock down.

Despite being unable to meet in person, our management team were kept busy delivering a large number of online events to keep the movement motivated during these challenging times. We particularly enjoyed running our Online Whit Friday, Solo Contest and Music Festival with this content being viewed in excess of 750,000 times, as well as our virtual 'Song for the Frontline' video which raised over £3000 for NHS Charities.

It has been humbling to see how the various negatives of 2020 have been addressed by organisations as well as watching how the movement has adapted to this online working.

As well as being awarded Band of the Year, we would like to congratulate our fantastic Euphonium player Gary Curtin for winning the '4Barsrest Solo CD of the Year' as well as giving special thanks to Richard Poole for co ordinating our 20+ virtual band videos. We would also like to thank Vice President Carole Crompton for assisting in our two successful applications to Arts Council England.

On behalf of all at Foden's we would like to thank all the various individuals and organisations who have played their part in keeping everyone motivated and entertained this year and would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
