fodens band national champions 2018On Saturday 6th October Foden's competed at the 'National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain' held at the Royal Albert Hall, London. The contest featured the top 20 brass bands from around the UK who qualified from competing at various 'Area' contests across the country. Foden's won the 'North West Area' in February for the third consecutive year.

Each band had to perform the set piece entitled 'Handel in the Band' by the highly respected Salvation Army composer Kenneth Downie

Foden's were drawn to play 8th in the contest under the direction of guest Conductor Russell Gray with their performance receiving a fantastic reaction from the audience in access of 2500 people. Despite the high quality of playing from all bands throughout the day Foden's were later announced as the winners and also received an invitation to represent England at the 'European Brass Band Championships' to be held in Lithuania in 2020
