Since last October Foden’s have been collaborating with Age UK Cheshire and arts organisation the Power of Art in a project that helps the over 50’s of the Northwich area of Cheshire overcome social isolation and loneliness by making brass music together.

Having already enjoyed two concerts from the 2018 National Champions (one of which the group performed alongside the Band) the ‘Creating a Buzz’ project members have regularly been meeting to socialise and be put through their paces by tutors from the Foden’s Band.

Darren Lea said, ‘The free sessions are open to anyone that wishes to join us irrespective of whether or not they have played before. Some of the members are completely new to playing a brass instrument and others are of varying experience. Each week they come together as one to enjoy each other’s company whilst learning and improving their musical skills. The enthusiasm throughout the members makes it so much fun to be part of’.

Although currently on an enforced break due to the coronavirus outbreak, the project will be recommencing as soon as it is deemed safe and will meet each Thursday morning at the Castle Community Centre, Northwich. Anyone that is interested in joining the group is invited to get in touch via 07766 513636 and come along.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
