Following the completion of its '2021 Online Whit Friday Championships' Foden's have taken the opportunity to thank the numerous organisations, bands and individuals who made the event possible.

Speaking about the contest Mark Wilkinson commented 'We are extremely grateful to the 119 bands from 13 different Countries who supported our event. The standard of playing was fantastic and bands had also given a lot of thought about the presentation of their video's as well as concentrating on the performance element. Due to the large number of entries, we took the decision to hold the contest over two days with the streams receiving 27,800 views from 19 different countries, featuring approximately 2975 performers performing 57 different marches! We wanted to raise funds for the Tameside and Saddleworth organising Committees to facilitate their events in 2022, thanks to everyone's generosity and donations sent to Foden's, we have raised £3962 and are hopeful that this will continue to rise. All donated monies will be split equally between the two committees.

An event of this size takes months of planning. Our social media team of Ian Raisbeck, Jonny Bates, Richard Poole and Iain McKnight have worked tirelessly on this project coordinated by Darren Lea who put the stream together and was on hand to help bands with any technical requirements. Michael Fowles and Mark Bousie had the difficult task of adjudicating the contest and all in all it has been a great team effort that has been run without any funding. We are grateful to our numerous sponsors for supporting this venture, their sponsorship has been used to purchase trophies which are in the process of being sent to the winning bands. Finally, a big thank you to Iwan Fox for hosting the contest!

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
