On Sunday 29th October Foden's Band will hold their 7th annual Solo and Quartet contest at Sandbach School, Crewe Road, Sandbach.

The contest is the largest event of its kind in the UK and has once again attracted over 100 competitors of various ages and abilities who will compete for a number of fantastic prizes. Prizes this year include commissions by high profile composers, bursaries and other awards.

The contest will also see entrants travel from Norway, Belgium and China with the youngest competitor being 5 years old, who will all try to impress adjudicators John Wallace, Brian Kingsley and Dewi Griffiths.

As in previous years there will be a number of trade stands supporting the event and Foden's band members will once again provide stewarding as well as cooking and serving hot food.

Members of the public are invited to support the contest and listen to competitors across numerous age categories starting from 10am.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
