Foden's are pleased to announce that they have entered into a partnership with the highly respected mouthpiece manufacturer Mercer and Barker.

Speaking about the partnership George Barker commented 'Over the past 18 months we have designed and developed a range of Tuba mouthpieces that have been lauded by some of the finest players in the UK, including non-other than Andy Cattanach, the bands Principal BBb Bass who worked with the team at M&B to produce the MB5 Cattanach. George Mitchell, Iain McKnight and Stuart Baglin also trialled the M&B Mouthpiece range and were happy to receive our sponsorship prior to the band being crowned the National Brass Band Champions, making our mouthpieces the “Choice of Champions.’’ The BBb basses play the 'MB5 Cattanach and EEb's the MB3 Grezzy and MB4-SC.'

On behalf of Foden's Andy Cattanach replied 'I started working with Mercer and Barker a couple of years ago to develop Tuba mouthpieces, as they were a very local partnership of people I already knew. After many alterations, and several models, the MB5 Cattanach was launched in September 2021. The rest of the Foden’s bass section were then interested to try other models of the range, under no obligation or expectation, but within a few weeks had all decided to change to Mercer and Barker models. As players, we feel that the change has improved the balance and blend of our section, as well as helping with intonation, with many favourable comments coming in recent performances.'

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
