andy scott 26 2 19On Tuesday 19th February Foden's, the current National and defending North West Regional Champion held their annual Patron's Concert to a packed Sandbach School.

The band hopes to extend their hat-trick of Area victories at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool this weekend, and gave a sneak preview of the set-work 'Seascapes' as well as providing over 500 supporters with a musical thank-you for their continued support.

Now in its 32nd year, the Patrons Society enjoyed solos from Richard Poole, Gary Curtin, Mel Whyle and Mark Landon as well as other popular favourites under MD Michael Fowles, whilst Russell Gray led the rendition of the Area test-piece on a warmly received return to the event.

During the evening the band made its annual awards with the 'Bandsperson of the Year' going to Darren Lea and John Barber presented with the 'Player of the Year' accolade.

The concert also gave the band the opportunity to thank Composer in Residence, Andy Scott who now ends his 11 year tenure with Foden's . Michael Fowles presented Andy with a limited edition print of a painting featuring the band.

In May 2020 Foden's will represent England at the European Brass Band Championships in Palanga. The Patrons were informed about the bands current plans as well as the challenges in raising money to attend the contest. A number of fund raising initiatives were launched at the concert.

Further information on the Patron Society can be obtained via as well as details on a recently launched 'Overseas Patronage'

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
