On the 6th July Foden's will perform the London premiere of their New Music Biennial commission ' A Child Like You' by our Composer-in-Residence Andy Scott, at London's Southbank Centre 7.30pm.

'A Child Like You' tells the story of a 17 year old Ugandan Asian refugee who, after fleeing Uganda in 1972 to escape the brutal regime of Idi Amin, was taken in by the family of composer Andy Scott. Insp...ired by these real life events, Andy Scott's new 15 minute mini-opera explores questions about children who are adopted, fostered or orphaned.

This new work features Anna-Clare Monk (soprano/narrator), Lauren Scott (harp), Foden’s Brass Band and four young musicians from Foden’s Youth Band who both play and narrate. With the sensitive subject matter and Andy Scott's distinctive compositional voice, this is a powerful and moving work.

Tickets for the concert are free and can be obtained by the below link

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
