FoB 2016On 31st January the Foden's Youth Band were invited to perform at the prestigeous Royal Northern College of Music Festival of Brass. For decades, the festival has been a showcase of the worlds leading brass bands performing original brass band repertoire and often giving premieres of new works.

In 2013 the Youth Band shared a short concert with the RNCM Junior Brass Band but this year event organiser Paul Hindmarsh invited our Youth Band to perform their own 1 hour recital.

The performance was a great success, with works by Lucy Pankhurst, Simon Dobson and Michael Ball all being well received by a large and appreciative audience. Perhaps the highlight was the opportuity to perform Joseph Horovitz's 'Music Hall Suite' in the presence of the composer.

The festival performance came just a week before the release of 'Patrons Choice IX' by Foden's Band - featuring 4 tracks recorded by the Youth Band in October. Members of the Youth Band were delighted to receive their complimentary copies and there has been much positive feedback from the pubic about the release which can be purchased here -

4barsrest (the worlds most visited brass band website) covered the whole festival and have published this review…

The below clip was filmed immediately after the bands' performance...

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
