As part of our successful 'Heritage' application we are looking forward to working with a large number of young people on the 'Arts Award Explore' using Foden's as the core topic.
Earlier this year Foden's were successful in an application to the Heritage Lottery. One of the projects within the funding was to arrange prints from a large number of glass negatives that would be displayed within a 'Foden's Museum.' Some of the negatives are over 110 years old!
Tuesday 1st June marked the 103rd anniversary of the death of Edwin Firth, Principal Cornet of Foden's who was sadly killed whilst serving Country.
All at Foden's are extremely saddened to hear about the death of Allan Littlemore who was a lifelong supporter and previous Head of Personnel at Foden's Motor Works.
It is with great sadness that we hear about the passing of James Scott on the morning of the 24th January. Mr Scott was the bands Musical Director between 1975 - 1978 and later accepted our offer to become a Life Patron of the band.
We hope you enjoy watching this video which highlights the bands fantastic history
Whilst working on our archives we came across the original handwritten score to 'Westward Ho' from the pen of Edwin Firth (former Principal Cornet with Foden's).
Following on from the recent concerts and tv appearances where the band commemorated the life of Edwin Firth (former Principal Cornet player with Foden's who lost his life serving his country on the 1st June 1918), the story has now reached the National Press.
On the 27th March Foden's appeared in concert at Sandbach Town Hall.
As Band Manager at Foden’s Band, from 1975 – 1990, it was never my role to interfere with players hired or fired by the respective Director of Music, even if it contributed to another headache.
