fyb20162On Saturday 25th June Foden's Youth Band performed in a concert hosted by Love Music Trust at the picturesque Clonter Opera Theatre in Cheshire.

The event formed part of a 'Celebration Weekend' for the trust who are the lead partners in the Cheshire East Music Hub and also featured Lions Youth Brass, Macclesfield Youth Brass Band and Poynton Youth Brass Band. The event is now an annual fixture and has proved to be hugely popular.

Foden's Youth Band under the baton of Mark Bousie were the final band to take the stage, with 58 young musicians on stage. As the last performance of the academic year the band chose to highlight some of the repertoire that has been successful this year opening with 'Prismatic Light' which was recorded on the Patrons Choice IX disc and performing 'Caravan' which was a big hit in our Warrington Parr Hall Concert last month. There were also stunning solo contributions from principal cornet Georgina Moulsdale and Euphonium Hal Walker. Saturday was Hal's last performance with the band (as he has reached the age limit) and as a founder member from September 2012, Hal has been a loyal member of the band throughout the last 4 years. Finally, the band ended with a new arrangement of the latest installment in the Star Wars series, 'The Force Awakens'.

After another great year, the Youth Band now get a well-deserved rest over the summer and we look forward to our welcome back workshops in September.

If you, or anybody you know, have any interest in joining Foden's Youth Band or Foden's Junior Band - please see our Youth Pages where you can find out how.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
