Annual Patrons' Concert

The Foden’s Band annual Patrons Concert  was held on Tuesday 17th February 2009 at Sandbach School and was probably the most successful yet!

The Hall was filled to capacity (infact extra seating had to be found to accommodate all the audience!) and the Patrons and guests were treated to an entertaining programme of music mainly taken from the Band’s new CD which was also launched on the night. Both the concert and the CD were directed by conductor Mike Fowles who has become a favourite with the audience at Sandbach.

“Patron’s Choice II” includes popular tracks and features many of the Band’s soloists chosen by Foden’s loyal Patrons and is dedicated to the Band’s President and long time supporter Peter Fletcher. Principal Cornet Mark Wilkinson presented Mr Fletcher with a copy of the CD and a framed souvenir of the occasion.

In recent months the financial help of Mr Fletcher has enabled Foden’s Band to officially drop the name of its former sponsor and to purchase new stand banners, blazer badges and a new design of tie. Foden’s Band Supporters Ties are now also available from the web site and concert venues.

The Patrons Concert is Foden’s Bands opportunity to make their annual awards, both of which are voted for by the members themselves. Mike Fowles was delighted to announce 2nd Cornet player Andy Rolfe as Bandsman of the Year and that the unanimous vote for Player of the Year went to Euphonium Soloist Glyn Williams.

Foden’s Band wishes to thank all their Patrons for their continued support.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
