On Tuesday 29th at Flowcrete Offices in Elworth,  Foden’s Band celebrated their recent success at the North West Area Brass Band Contest. The reason for the celebration was that Foden’s Band had achieved a record six consecutive wins at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens making a total of 18.

The celebration, organised by local entrepreneur and Foden’s Band Vice President Stephen Sebire MBE, also had in attendance many of the band partners and sponsors such as Cheshire East Council, Sandbach Town Council, Besson Musical Instruments, Wrights Printers, Goldy Solutions and Flowcrete. The buffet was kindly supplied by Mark Greaves MIOD who is Flowcrete’s CEO and band Vice President and was represented on the evening by Caroline Ellerton.

Local dignitaries Cllr Gordon Baxendale, Cllr. Gill Merry and Cllr. Barry Moran attended in addition to local business people and the press. The evening began with a reception of drinks and light buffet before speeches by Cllr. Baxendale, Stephen Sebire and Foden’s Band Chairman John Barber. After the reception the band opened their door to a working rehearsal conducted by their Musical Director Michael Fowles. This victory now has the band in great shape under their new Professional Conductor Allan Withington as they prepare for the English National Contest at Preston Guild Hall in June.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
