Foden’s Solo and Quartet 8th October 2011

Foden’s Band are proud to release final details of their inaugural Solo and Quartet Competition, which will be held on Saturday 8th October 2011. Through generous sponsorship from Buffet Crampon (Besson), Audi (Macclesfield), Glyn Williams Musical Instruments and our other partners we are able to offer fantastic prizes for all classes. The day consists of Slow Melody, Air Varie/Brilliante, Duet and Quartet classes, and will be adjudicated by Besson artists, one of which is the world famous cornetist Dr. Roger Webster. Trophies and certificates will be awarded for each class, with generous bursaries also available in some classes. Piano accompanists are available for solo classes as required.
Slow Melody: 11 and under, 12-16 and Open
Air Varie/Brilliante: Under 16, 16-18 and Open
Duet: 16 and under, and Open
Quartet: 16 and Under, Open and a Fun Class!
Foden’s award winning composer in residence, Andy Scott, will compose a piece for the winner of the Open Air Varie class, and the solo will be written to showcase the player’s abilities.
Excellent facilities are on offer at Sandbach Boys School to ensure everyone has a great day. AUDI of Macclesfield is providing a corporate hospitality suite, and this will have some of the latest cars on show; AUDI are also providing a celebrity chef to conjure up some tasty treats for visitors to the hospitality suite! Refreshments will also be on sale throughout the day, with proceeds going towards the Countess of Chester Hospital ‘Relative Comfort’ appeal.
Various trade stands will also be on site throughout the day, so players will have the opportunity to buy sheet music, instruments, Foden’s merchandise, music stands, etc.
Evening Concert
To round off the day, Foden’s Band will give a concert in the evening and, where possible, some of the winning soloists from the competition will be given the opportunity to perform. Roger Webster will also feature as the evening’s guest soloist. This will be undoubtedly a great day out for all players to compete, receive helpful feedback on their performances, hopefully win a terrific prize and finally enjoy Foden’s fantastic sound at the evening’s concert.

Details of how to enter can be found at , and or by emailing [email protected]. The last day for entries is 4 September 2011

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
