On Sunday 17th August, Foden's Band gave a concert in the fantastic grounds of Gawsworth Hall to a 800 strong audience to conclude the Gawsworth concert season for 2014. Back, fresh from the summer break, the band performed music with a theme of 'Best of British' and delighted audiences with pieces that featured parts of the United Kingdom and also remembered World War 1. The finale included the traditional 'Last Night of the Proms' set but prior to that, the band invited John Needham to the stage to present a cheque to Foden's Band from Audi Macclesfield for £1500.
Audi Macclesfield are no stranger to supporting the band and this is the third year they have generously helped the band with their youth programmes. John Barber as Chairman of the band gratefully received the cheque and thanked Audi Macclesfield for their continued support.
Band Manager Mark Wilkinson said 'The donation from Audi enables the band to promote youngsters in music making with our youth band and our annual Solo Contest, which will be held on the 1st November. We appreciate companies like Audi Macclesfield who take a genuine interest in the band and understand the benefits we provide for youth and our community. John Needham and Andy Hollis from Audi Macclesfield visit the bandroom regularly and we are always grateful for the time they take to visit us.
