On Saturday 2nd October Foden's competed at the 'National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain' held at the Royal Albert Hall, London. The contest featured the top 19 brass bands from around the UK who qualified from competing at various 'Area' contests across the country. Foden's won the 'North West Area' in February '20 for the fifth consecutive year. Each band performed the set piece entitled 'Heroes' by Bruce Broughton who is an Oscar nominated and Grammy award winning Film composer.

Foden's were drawn to play 14th in the contest under the direction of Conductor Russell Gray with their performance receiving a fantastic reaction and ovation from the audience. Despite the high quality of playing from all bands throughout the day Foden's were later announced as the winners.

2021 champions

The band last won this particular contest in 2018 where part of the prize was to represent England at the European Brass Band Championships in 2020 being held in Palanga, Lithuania. Sadly, due to Covid the contest was cancelled and subsequently re arranged to be held in May '22 at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
