Foden's Launch Heritage Website

Posted by Mark Wilkinson on 3 January 2018

In 2016 Foden's announced that they had been successful in an application to the 'Heritage Lottery Fund' for a 'Heritage and Digital Project' with work commencing in December '16 with a finished timeline of March '18.

The successful bid allowed the band to digitise all their historical artefacts, original 78's recordings (outside of copyright) as well as original manuscripts. It also allowed Foden's to record two cd's of previously unrecorded / published music with all the digitised information and recordings being housed on a new 'Heritage Website.' On top of this, training would be provided for various members and volunteers in how do deal with historical documents and digitisation.

Speaking about the project Mark Wilkinson commented 'Since last December a lot of work has been on going behind the scenes so that the project would be completed by the March '18 deadline. I would personally like to thank all those who have been involved in the project especially Stewart Green as well as Allan Littlemore who has donated a large collection of his personal Foden's memorabilia to our archives. I would also like to thank Devmac Systems (owned by Foden's cornet player Paul McDonald) who have built a fantastic 'Heritage Web Site.' Foden's Band are extremely proud of our history and the new website allows us to share this world wide as well as protecting it for generations to come.'

Foden's will hold a 'Heritage' concert at Sandbach Town Hall on Tuesday 27th March commencing at 7.30pm that will see the launch of the new 'Heritage Website.' The first half of the concert will see the band perform music from original manuscripts with the second half being more recent concert material. The concert is free to attend but due to limited space and availability tickets need to be applied for prior to the concert.

Those interested in attending are asked to contact Mark at [email protected] or 07740 354106 to reserve a seat
