Foden's Solo Contest

Posted by Mark Wilkinson on 28 October 2015

The 'Foden's Solo Contest' is the largest of its kind in this country and last year attracted over 170 competitors who competed in 18 different classes. Once again we have received a similar number of entrants who will be travelling from Norway, Belgium, France as well as this country to compete in the various age categories and disciplines which include Solos, Duets, Quartets and Percussion classes on Saturday.

Speaking about the forthcoming event Mark Wilkinson commented 'Once again we are thankful to Besson Musical Instruments, Audi Macclesfield, Cheshire East and 4barsrest for their support of the competition as well as the various trade stands that will be in attendance. Foden's band members will be on hand to organise the setting up of classrooms and main hall, registrations, managing the trade stands, comparing duties in each section, manning all 4 performance areas and practice rooms as well as serving on the refreshment stands. Band members will also provide some of the fine food on offer from classic bacon sandwiches and hot dogs to homemade soup and an amazing array of cakes and pastries. We are grateful to Helen Williams, Owen Farr, Anthony Mann and Florent Didier who have accepted our offer to adjudicate the various sections during the course of the day.'

All are invited to support the musicians with the contest commencing from 9.30am at Sandbach School, Crewe Road, Sandbach, Cheshire, CW11 3NS

For any conductor and every audience, Foden’s Band is a musical Magic Carpet. It continually takes the listener to places that few other ensembles rarely even approach Howard Snell
